Lo que debes saber sobre la Semana GAMA 2023 de arte en la Ciudad de México, Vogue Mexico 2023
Pamela Weissenberg presenta la primera exposición individual en México de la artista portuguesa Carolina Pimenta (Porto, 1988), que después de residir en Nueva York cinco años, vive y trabaja entre la Ciudad de México y Lisboa.
La muestra propone un diálogo entre su más reciente serie de fotografías “Después de la imagen (Depois da Imagem)”, ideada tras un profundo estudio de la teoría del color y la luz, buscando la intervención del error, con dos grandes fotografías que evocan paisajes atmosféricos: la serie “En Plein Air” (2022) -un guiño al movimiento impresionista francés-, y cuya investigación se extiende desde el ámbito del cuerpo/cultura -de sus primeras fotografías- hacia el de la naturaleza/cultura. Esta serie de escenas bucólicas es también el resultado de afectos suscitados por la realidad inmediata de Pimenta, es decir, la pandemia y su impacto irremediable en nuestra psiquis, nuestras rutinas y cosmovisiones.

Exquisito is an emerging artistic creation festival taking place in Telheiras. With more than 50 artists cover the theme “After Absolute Certainties” in a program that features 30 visual, musical and performatic arts initiatives.
After the absolute certainties what will we have left? And after what happened we thought it was impossible to happen? Absolute certainties matter little or nothing to whom the only certainty is creation. Art causes dissonance precisely because it escapes common sense, because it expands our processes of apprehending reality. The basis of the spirit of artistic creation lies in interrogation and complexity.

You have up to 3 mins.
ONE SHOT must take place in a neutral space. Mobiles aren't allowed and only one viewer can enter the room at a time. In the room, there is a Polaroid camera and the artist. The viewer is invited to take a photograph, place it on the ground, and observe the result. The total time allowed inside is 3 minutes.

The group exhibition Overlayerd, in the former offices of Livraria Sá da Costa in Lisbon, features new works by Carolina Pimenta, Cécile Mestelan, João Varela, Luísa Salvador, Rui Dias Monteiro and Vasco Futscher. Opening Thursday, December 12th at 6pm.
Overlayerd, de layer (camada) não tem tradução para português. Sintetiza o processo de cobertura de algo através do uso de uma camada de outro material, diferente do primeiro coberto. Associa-se também a uma possibilidade de se pensar sobreposição de camadas diversas, circunstância que se queria evidenciar nesta exposição. Como se pode pensar o trabalho de seis artistas com práticas diferentes? Como abordar o espaço desta exposição e toda a sua história prévia? Como conciliar estas premissas? Estava criado o mote para a exposição — Overlayerd — introduzindo no espaço da Livraria Sá da Costa uma nova camada, a dos trabalhos de seis artistas, mas não cobrindo totalmente a sua pré-existência.

This charity campaign was for Todos Contra ELA, which aims to raise funds to support the Portuguese Association for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. JanuaryAmong other events, this initiative included the contemporary art auction BE PART, which gathered works by some of the most renowned Portuguese artists from different generations. The auction took place online at the Veritas Art Auctioneers between 28 and 30 January and the event auction took place on 4 February at the Four Seasons Ritz Lisbon, and raised 360,000 EUR.

Muito da eficiência daquilo que fazemos, daquilo que mastigamos, depende daquilo que não se vê. Das raízes. É por isso que estou a contar esta história. Porque são as coisas que estão dentro de nós e em que ninguém repara quando nos olha. Temos uma paisagem muito grande que não se vê, a menos que nos debrucemos para dentro e mostremos aquilo de que nos lembramos. Raízes.
Um princípio. Uma base. O que fortalece. Uma paisagem escondida. Um imaginário. O que não se vê. Uma essência. O individual a trabalhar em conjunto para o mesmo fim; a união. O crescimento. Vida.
Aqui, num espaço nobre duma cidade renascida, apresenta-se uma colectiva de cinco jovens artistas em início de carreira, que nos mostram trabalhos nas áreas de fotografia, desenho, têxtil e instalação. Trata-se de uma abertura para dentro de imaginários singulares que juntos, produzem uma única paisagem fluída e livre. Paisagem essa que no próximo mês, ganhará volume e forma através de colaborações progressivas, artistas convidados e eventos mais a decorrer no espaço.
O trabalho de todos, apesar de individual e visualmente diferente, desenvolve-se em paralelo e (tal como as raízes de uma árvore), é em paralelo e em conjunto que se apresenta, num crescimento colectivo e dinâmico, explorando ao máximo a intimidade entre os artistas, seu trabalho e o público.
